How to Produce Cannabis Seed: Pollination of Individual Branches

Last time we talked about pollination of the whole plant to produce cannabis seeds. Today, we'll continue to introduce the second method to produce cannabis seeds.

Method B: pollination of individual branches
The second method is to pollinate certain branches of a female plant, instead of the entire plant. This way, you will get fewer seeds, but it is an ideal way to get good sprouts and some seeds.
With this method, you will have to prepare both male and female plants for breeding. For the male plants, take off some of the strongest flowers and put them in paper bags. Usually, paper bags work best, as they are longer and can grip well onto the female branches as well. The male snips should be about four to six inches long.



For the female plants, trim the lower leaves of the branches you want to pollinate. The female branch should also have nice flowers.



Now, place the paper bag with all the male plants' snips on the female branch, and tie the bag around the branch. This can be done with tape, string, or fasteners. Now, shake the bag a few times and wait a few hours to let the pollination process take place.



To make sure you don't pollinate unwanted branches, make sure there is no draft in the room. Close all fans, and windows, to make sure the pollen doesn't spread to the branches you want to deal with.

Actual Seed Harvest
Once the pollination process is complete, you can expect to see mature seeds in four to six weeks. To ensure the seeds are mature, take one and squeeze it dry. If it cracks, the seeds will need more time to mature. You can also look at the seed to see if it is good by its color and shape.
Mature seeds are usually dark brown. Additionally, many seeds often have stripes when mature, which is another obvious indication that they are ready to be harvested. However, not all strains have striped seeds, so make sure to use the right indicators.
But if all is true, then you can freely begin harvesting all the seeds your plant is capable of creating.
